Bastrop County Freedom Colony Oral Histories

This page is dedicated to documenting and preserving the oral histories of Bastrop County Freedom Colony descendants and their ancestors.  Here you will get the opportunity to hear historical experiences and information that is often overlooked and not included in the teaching of American History.  These stories are American stories.  They are stories that should not be lost to time.

Doris Williams

Our President and Founder, Doris Williams, was a university of Texas Precursor.  Click on her picture to hear, IN HER OWN VERY SPOKEN WORDS, her remarkable journey as one of the early African American students who integrated UT in the early 1960s.  The mission of the BCAACC is to make sure that stories like hers continue to be preserved and told.
